Catches has improved since this well overdue rain, and is well worth a visit at the moment. Heavy downpours and a rise in water level has stirred some of the stubborn fish. Give the Club Bay, Islyn,Ruins and the Canal leat near the Ruins a try.
A photo of a 13lb Rainbow Trout is shown below, the angler from Widnes caught this large perfect condition trout off the Ruins. Young Ffestiniog angler Sion Jones caught a fin perfect Rainbow of 4lbs and another of just over 2lbs at Islyn. He was fishing maggots and it was late afternoon.
Worm, sweetcorn and maggot are the best methods as powerbait is not legal bait at this fishery. Plenty of fish in and around club bay,but sometimes can be a bit slow.
Regular stocking continues with quality rainbow trout of an average pound and threequarters.

What a difference a bit of rain makes! With a lake rise of around a foot in a week it sure has done the fishing some good as visiting Hywel Morgan found out, he could'nt believe how many takes he took as most other fisheries are struggling at the moment. Hywel was fishing hoppers on a floating line. Islyn Bay and Tyn Twll are the best areas Gregory rock also doing well.
It was a bit of a mixed bag over the weekend with Sunday being the better day although not many ventured out due to high winds and heavy downpours but the ones who did got rewarded.
Recent news -. Hatches of Alder fly,Crane fly, various Caddis fly, damselfly and Stonefly can be seen at the moment.
